“Forgetting what lies behind…”

Not forget, like “don’t even bring it to mind ever again,” but forget like “don’t cling to it, or let it cling to you.”

Sometimes it’s the “good” things I need to forget.

Sometimes, dwelling on how good things used to be brings me down, because now seems so much harder.

The trouble with dwelling on how things “used to be” is that it makes it tricky to see the blessings in how things are now. Harder isn’t always worse, in fact, harder is often where the best joys are found.

So my word for this coming year is “forward.

“…straining forward to what lies ahead,” because ahead is where hope is found.

Ahead is undiscovered and unblemished.

Ahead is the prize…the “prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Forward to all the blessings and joy the Lord has in store, regardless of the road conditions.

Looking Ahead

Mustache wallets…who would have imagined they would be my top seller last year?  Not me, that’s for sure!  I could barely keep up with the orders during the holiday shopping season (a good problem, I know!).

Now that things have slowed down a bit, I’ve had a chance to rethink my product line, and I have to tell you, I’m SUPER excited about some new ideas!  Wanna peek?

Or how about my new and improved, ever popular pencil cases:

I’ve been branching out and using more new materials, not just recycled clothing, and it’s opened up a whole new spectrum of colors and textures for me to work with.  So fun!  And working with new materials makes it easier to be able to make more than one or two of the same thing, which is going to be an important part of some other new ideas I’ve got planned, like offering home parties, and getting my products into some local shops and boutiques.  (Keep your eyes peeled, I’ve got a couple of very good prospects in the downtown Portland area!).

On the homefront, we just finished home schooling our youngest.  This spring semester he’s starting college…can you believe it?!  He’s headed off to Boston this summer.  Big changes in our house, but definitely good ones!  And my oldest just hung her very first ever photo exhibit which will be up for the entire month of January.  We hosted the opening gala the other night, with refreshments by my super talented pastry chef/cake decorating husband, yum!

So the outlook for 2012 in our home is looking pretty exciting all ’round.  It’s going to be a grand adventure, that’s for sure!  Hope you’ll stick around for the ride!

Be blessed,
